The New Year is off to a fast start as employees and
managers return to the office after the holiday break. As they open their email
programs, they see a backup of notes running into the hundreds. Then the phone
rings with someone requesting assistance. Stress is felt in the back and neck before the
clock hits 9 AM. Enterprises TV offers tips on how to relieve stress at work.
Some of the easiest ways to relieve stress is to be mindful
of it. Sit back and close the eyes. Make
a mental note of what tops the priority list of tasks to get done. Inhale
deeply and exhale slowly. Relax the shoulders.
Open the eyes.
Meetings can be time zappers and energy killers. Meetings can also be stressful if too many
people are talking at once and not agreeing.
Listen to what each person has to say. Take notes on what is most
important and speak when there is an opportunity of if asked. Don’t get pulled
into a debate. Stand up and stretch if the meeting lasts longer than 30
minutes. Take a long drink of water.
The Enterprises TV show suggests focusing on what’s the work
at hand. Block out noise and interruptions and stay fully engaged in the task
at hand. Sometimes this is not easy. Colleagues and co-workers like to
interrupt and pull us into their drama. Stay focused on what needs to be
completed and use a break or lunch time to listen to others.
Need a short clean break? Go outside and take a short walk.
The change of scenery is refreshing and the walk clears the mind and helps us
refocus.
