Summer is the season when we cool our homes and rely on our
refrigerators more. It is also the time of year when our energy and electric
bills rise. Enterprises TV offers some energy saving solutions for the summer.
If the refrigerator is not so new, now is a good time to go
shopping for a new one. Older fridges cost more money to run and don’t keep
food as fresh in them as a newer one. Most new fridge models have an Energy
Star rating which means they are better at saving the consumer money. Go
shopping and find the best model for the household budget.
Drying clothes in the clothes dryer is convenient and quick.
Drying clothes outside can save some money assuming we don’t live in a rainy
area. Instead, after washing clothes, pull out items which can be hung dry
outside or inside. Use medium heat instead of high heat. Take clothes out and
let them hang dry if not completely dry instead of running the dryer again.
Invest in a programmable thermostat. It honestly saves money
by letting us set the days and times when we want less air or more air
conditioning. It may cost a little bit more to buy it and install it, but in
the end, it could save us over $100 a year in energy costs.
The Enterprises TV show also suggests using an e-reader if
there are voracious readers in the family. Think about how much it costs in
energy to print one book and transport it to a seller. It costs less energy to
charge and use an e-reader than it does to pack 5 books for a summer beach
vacation. Save money with these easy to implement energy savings solutions this
summer.
