Enterprises TV and the Most Affordable Cities for Retirees

(Tampa, Florida)

Some cities are better for retirees than others because they are affordable, have great healthcare facilities and great weather. Enterprises TV shares the list of the top ten most affordable cities for retirees.

Not surprisingly, Florida has five of the ten cities for being great places for retired people. Texas has two cities, Arizona has two cities and Kansas has one. Below are how the top ten are ranked by WalletHub:

  1. Tampa. FL
  2. Grand Prairie, TX
  3. Orlando, FL
  4. St. Petersburg, FL
  5. Scottsdale, AZ
  6. Overland Park, KS
  7. Port St. Lucie, FL
  8. Cape Coral, FL
  9. Plano, TX
  10. Peoria, AZ

The survey considered several relevant criteria in determining the above ranking order: taxes, cost of living, cost of in-home care, change of securing a job in retirement, weather, crime, access to hiking, golfing, volunteer opportunities, clean air and water, and of course, availability of doctors, dentists and hospitals.

Florida is a popular state for retirees because of it low taxes and great weather. Texas is affordable and has the resources to hire older workers, Arizona has great weather, healthcare and activities. Kansas also provides plenty of jobs for retirees, is affordable and good healthcare is available when needed. There are many reasons why those who are close to retirement and who have quit working already choose to relocate. The Enterprises TV show suspects that having a more affordable cost of living is the most common reason.
