People who live in the top five U.S. cities for vehicle theft might
want to take preventative steps against it. The Enterprises TV show relays what
to do to protect vehicles from getting stolen.
If the car or vehicle is older, it may not come with an
anti-theft system or alarm. In this situation, the basic Club steering wheel
lock comes in handy. The original can be found at discount stores and is quite
affordable. Another option is to have the car’s vehicle identification number
(VIN) etched on the bottom of the windshield and on some of the parts.
Newer vehicles will come with alarm systems and other
anti-theft systems such as satellite service which tracks the vehicle and
alerts a service center when something happens.
Other anti-theft solutions are specially coded keys, engine immobilizers,
and telematics locating systems. The Enterprises TV show also notes that the
U.S. FBI states car thefts of all kinds are on the decline. In fact, stats are
down 5.7 percent from 2013 to 2014. The most important contributing facts to the
decrease in auto thefts is improved public awareness and better law enforcement
tactics and prosecution.
We need our vehicles for daily work and school commutes. We
need them to get us to the store, doctor’s office and to take on vacations. In
return, we just protect our property. Find the most affordable anti-theft
protection possible and use it.
